This is for my friend.
He recently bought an 80gig Zune, but it's broken now (I don't think he took very good care of it, but still). :/ He put a lot of music from random people on it (it was terribly unorganized) and then he left it in his car overnight. He tried to turn it on, it wouldn't, he charged it, it came on... Then gave him an error messages stating that he needed to delete all the data from him Zune. He did, but it gave him another error message. He couldn't return it, he looked up something online that told him how to erase everything on his Zune. Then it says that the Zune only has 1gig (which is normal before you install the firmware, I believe). It asks to reinstall the firmware, but then says there is not enough room on the hard disk. He says that he has cleaned his hard disk, but it has not worked. I am trying this on my computer right now, but I could still use suggestions. Anything would be helpful! Thanks. EDIT: I think this is a problem with installing the firmware. My computer meets the requirements, but it still says I don't have enough disk space (it requires 60gig, I have 147gig).

He should just send it to Microsoft, and be more careful next time.
A LOT more careful.

Since a hard reset doesn't work...I'm just throwing out a semi-random suggestion. Let the battery die fully, then sync it to a computer and see what happens. If not tell him to call Microsoft to send it in for repairs. Good Luck!

He only needs to go on the zune site, register his zune for warranty by entering the serial number/code on the back of his zune. Then call MS...he doesn't need the bar code from the box, just the serial number on the back of his zune 80.

This is a glitch in the software. Don't worry about it, I have it too.
When you try to sync in zunesoftware, you can choose which device to sync to. There's the 1GB zune and the 2nd one is your zune. So when you sync, you have to select your zune to sync by pressing the arrows on either side of the zune picture. The 1GB zune is usually named "zune". ![]() |
