To completely turn off your zune. Pess back and down at the same time. Play/pause puts it in to a sleep mode, not really turning it off. Also I think you need to recalibrate your battery, forgot how to do that. =(..Will search for how to do that then post back. Oh yeah when I mean recalibrate, I mean like reset your zune's capability of battery. For example your battery icon may say it's fully charged but really it's only half way charged.

Edit: Heres a link to the Microsoft site, that shows ways to maximize your zune's battery. Also shows how to recalibrate your zune's battery.

You cannot recalibrate your battery on your zune. It's only for laptop batteries or more advanced battery meters.

If you've just bought your zune for less than a week, then this is a common symptoms. After like 10 discharge and recharge cycle, the battery will able to hold a full charge.

When I first got my zune, the battery only lasted 3 hours.

I thought the same way too, until I read that you could a while back on the zune forums. Even say's so on Microsofts support site. See for yourself...http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927710/en-us

Edit: at elegant I think you do..I had to with my zune. I had the same problem now everything is fine, well try to charge your zune for a whole day. Like whole day just to make sure, then do what you normallydo, listen to it for an hour, put it down when you get home etc...and if it is fully drained again the next day. I think your zune is either defective which means you got's to call Microsoft to send it in for repair, or get a new one from where you bought it from or recalibrate the battery..you can try a hard reset though..

Well... it says on ms's site that it's only for zune 80/4/8

It says in your signature that you have zune 30.

Edit... my eyes are tricking me.....

You have a zune 80. Jon has zune 30.
