Default converting videos to zune

I've been having problems with my zune 80, also software for video converting. Somehow, mp4's don't seem to work on my zune, well jodix video converter might be the problem. After this, I used a wmv converter and videos did play on my zune. Videos with a runtime of about 20minutes like tv shows run fine on the zune. When I convert a movie and play it on my zune, it is insanely out of sync. This might be the software I'm using though. Someone on here linked me to converters but I lost that bookmark, can someone provide me with some easy to use mp4 or wmv video converters?

Also, is there a way to put songs and video to my zune and then delete them from my computer without having the songs disappear the next time I sync like a ipod?*************

Thanks

Well, it might be your converter. MP4 is supported fine on the Zune and is my preferred format for the Zune 80.
Try another converter. There is a spot on the forums with a list of free converters here;

Thanks, I'll try a few.

Also, my zune software says I have 78gb free, but when I check storage on my zune80, it says 72 gb free, 2gb used, is the starting amount of space on the zune80 around 74-75gb's?

Yeah you will have to link your zune as a guest to your computer. In other words guest sync. To do this go to settings > device and choose to forget this device. Then the next time you sync your zune to your computer , you will get a option to guest sync, then choose to guest sync. Now you should be able to sync things on to your device like a album or video and then delete it off your computer so you can save space. With out losing it the next time you sync.

I know what you are talking about and do not have a definitive answer, only speculation.
I am wondering if the software is just reading total space used by files and subtracting from 80, while the Zune itself is reading added files along with OS and firmware files, thus getting a slightly lower reading.

Luckily, I have a feature packed media player that has a file converter built in so that's what I use for all my conversions.

YOu could also drag and drop the videos from an unmonitored folder into zune software. You then sync the videos to the zune. After that, you delete the file on your computer.

Your zune 80 starting harddrive space is 80GB. 1GB = 1000000000 bytes

Your software reads your zune's starting hdd space as 74GB~ 1GB - 102400000 bytes.

You get the idea... so 80GB = 74GB

I'm trying to do the guest sync thing, but it's not working. clicked forget this device, reconnected it, and there is nothing that says guest sync? It bring me to the page where I put in my zune's name and blah blah.

maybe you should try this if the guest sync doesn't work. This method will alow you to keep your stuff on your zune, while not having the file on your computer. It does the same thing as the "guest sync" method, but you keep all the functionality.
