Default [SOLVED] [HELP]Can't get Zune 80 to show on TV

Hi,
I've got a regular camcorder cable and I tried to connect it to the AV input on my TV and on VCR seperately, and all I get is this blured screen. Now, I'm not from the US, we usualy don't use NTSC here but most of our TVs and VCRs are multisystem, which support both PAL and NTSC. So, it supposed to work because my VCR, and my TV set are both multisystems. I tried to play with their configuration, to set them only to NTSC, but it didn't work. try to connect it in different configurations to AV inputs, didn't work.
Why didn't MS put support for PAL as well? I feel like im in the dark ages, I mean this is 2008, everything is supposed to be universal isn't it?
Well, I dunno if it just won't work no matter what ill do or am I doing somthing wrong? Please help.

Thanks.

How do you connect your player ? Via the dock ? Which dock ( round old one or rectangle new one) ?? if it's the new one, there is a switch beside the RCA connectors. Or just via the plug where your headphones go ( make sure it's a 4-pin 3.5mm plug ) ?
Usually the NTSC/PAL issue is that the video plays o.k., it's the sound which is on a different frequency ( but I might be wrong ) so you should get a picture.

Hope that helps a bit.

The A/V Cables are not universal , it depends on the pinouts.

I dont use a dock, just using the headphone jack. My cable is a 4-pin 3.5mm PL to 3-RCAs... The guy on the store where i bought it from said that this a standart camcorder cable that should work with most camcorders..
I know this diagrem, and i know i should use the Red RCA for video instead of the yellow RCA, because it is a camcorder cable and not the zune or Ipod cable. now, i dont wanna waste more money on an original cable and then find out that it won't work anyway. any suggestions?

Edit: I just did some research on PAL and NTSC methods. The only difference between them is the reslution and frame rate, so in my opinion i should see something but not in the porper resolution (that is if my TV and VCR don't support NTSC, which they do). So, the only possibilty i can think of is that the cable is not right, although it should be..

i assume you are going into settings-display-tv out on, correct? and then make sure your tv is set to the right video source. have you tried the red, white, and yellow in the video input? if all is still no go and you're sure its connected right and your tv in set to ntsc then its gotta be the cable. do you have another tv to test on?
there are cheap cables on ebay gauranteed for the zune.

Yeah tried all that. Its probably the cable (I hope it is), Ill go to the shop where i bought the cable from and ask the guy if he's got an idea. I think he can test it out in his store.. He told he has got some more kinds of these cables so maybe one of them could fit...
Ill let you know about the developments..

Well, I just got back from the store. it seems that the seller missled me and said that the other cable he has for sale is compatible with sony camcorders only. So, it talked to him a little and decided to give it a shot, i gave him the old cable back and took the "sony cable" (which has nothing to do with sony corp. btw), and surprise, it works. I guess this guy has a different meaning for universal cables...Now, if i use the red RCA plug as the video in it works just fine.
The only thing that bothers me now is that the margins of the picture on the TV set are cut a bit, but i heard other people had this problem..You don't notice it on movies.

Anyways, thanks alot everybody.

When he says its compatible with sony camcorders only he doent know what he's talking about. A sony camcorder av cable is just a standard av cable but the colours match up to different things.

for example red may have to go into yellow, white into red etc etc.

I have a "Sony Camcorder" av cable and I use the following combination:

red -> yellow
yellow -> white
white -> red

Works perfectly, just try different combinations if your av cable doesn't work as expected.

No, the hardware does not support it.
