Unhappy in desperate need of help and opinions...

well.
my zune 80 broke..
and i have a few movies on there
and a ton of music.
most of which...is pirated.

and i have some movies that arent even on dvd yet...

the thing that happened was i plugged in an fm transmitter to my zune in the audio jack
and it made a few crackles...
and then made a loud pop.

the screen shut off. and it wont respond.
i cant get the pc to recognize it
nothing will turn it on.
its dead.

well my dad fears that i'll get busted if i send it in.
and he wont let me send it in.
im a minor and he said the charges for illegal downloading will go back on him if something does happen.

did any of you have anything on your zune when you sent it in?

im just so lost right now and i dont want to lose 250 dollars on that zune...

I sent my Zune in with tons of illegally pirated songs, and I didn't get busted. Besides, Micro$oft isn't the type of company who sues people or anything bad. I'd say, send it in. Or, get the coffin in the mail and send it when your dad isn't watching.

I don't think I had any illegally pirated videos on, but I had ones I wasn't suppsoed to have(Red vs Blue Zune episode).

If you're Zune is as dead as you say it is, you might just get a new one back. That's what happened to me.

Just send it in.

EULA: By reading this, you agree not to sue/harass/stalk/harm/scare/doing anything that has a negative influence on me in any way if you get caught by Micro$oft for some unknown reason.

I would convince your dad. I really don't think anyone will be busted.

Microsoft won't look at your songs or anything. It's the law, you get your own privacy.
You're safe.

relax man. Even though we here do not advocate that, what do they care? Their job is to fix the item you sent in, not to search every zune for what could be a potential pirated movie. That is not what they are paid for, and none of them care enough to take the time to report every single zune that comes through. They fix it, then move on. It would take way too many man hours to do that extra work.
Send it in, get it fixed, get it back. Everything will be fine.
You run a bigger risk of admitting that here than sending it in to people who's job is simply to fix the device and move on to the next.
Bet you didn't think of that haha! No worries bro.

I wouldn't worry about it. I sent my Zune 80 in with some pirated stuff. Of course, I always cleaned up the name of the files (it's easier to organize), so they won't be able to tell. When they repair the Zune, I doubt they'll pour over your media. They'll probably turn it on and make sure it's working though, but you should be fine.

there are privacy laws they cannot turn you in to the police because they are only supposed to repair they cannot look through your files legally at least. the only other option i see is that you could sell it im sure someone here would buy it for the hd you wont get all your money back but you might get some of it
