Default [SOLVED] Repair on Zune Originals?

I have a problem with the Zune, the "Can't install firmware" problem, and nothing fixes it. I am about to call CS tomorrow, and I just wanted to clarify the return of a Zune Original. Will they just pop a new HD in my unit? Or will they just give me a refurb (with no engraving)? Or will they give me a new one w/engraving?

In all cases I have heard, they refund your money so you can buy a new Zune. If you asked them, they would say they would fix it.

Don't worry though, you will end up with the same original design in the long run.

PS: Have you tried uninstalling with UnZoone and reinstalling the software?

Yeah my two friends sent in their zune originals to Microsoft because of some internal HD problems. I would just like to point out it took like a whole 2 months untill they got theirs back. In the end one of my friends got a new zune same engraving all good. My other friend's zune apparently got lost... So Microsoft said they would work on looking for it. In the end he got a refund instead, and Microsoft sent him a free zune dock v2, for the long wait and for losing his zune.

All I can say is it might take a long time to get your zune back from Microsoft. I have read alot of stories on zune repairs and most of them start off with how long it's been since they got their zune back. Maybe if your lucky you'll get yours back faster, you never know...

Download the firmware manually from the Microsoft website.

Well the good news is that I got the firmware to install. After about ten formats of the HD, and UnZoone and SIP2. Thanks for the tip.

But the bad news is that it's taking a ridiculously long time to sync. 8 hours and only 811 songs have been moved? Probably isn't the Zune's problem, but I've never had this happen before.

Glad you got it fixed! The synching does seem a bit slow, but atleast it is working.
