Question Best video format for Zune

I have a Zune 80Gb and was just wondering what the best format for video on Zune is. Currently, I am just downloading DivX videos from stage6.com then converting then with a video conversion program I downloaded, and convert my DivX video to .wmv format, is there another format that I can get even better video? I just wanna squeeze out all the goodness out of my Zune, I don't mind if a different format takes up more room, because I still have 70+Gb's free on this mad player.

I love my Zune!

Thanks!

yes WMV is the best format if your zune software can accept it and sync with the zune... sometime like i've been having problems.. Zune Software sometime freezes and won't sync WMV format, but you can either use WMV (smaller format, good quality) or MP4 (bit bigger format, quality is somewhat same to WMV)

Actually 3Mbit/s WMA version 8 or quality variable bitrate version 8 WMA with 3Mbit/s cap are the best video format for zune 80.

By using quality vbr, the format will have the best quality with minimum size. Since zune can only display video which 3mbit/s or lower birate. By putting a 3mbit/s cap means that the format will limit the video to 3mbit/s .

I have had a constant re-formatting when syncing using wmv. Annoying, but I am not sure why.
So I use DVD Shrink to get the video I want off a disk and then use MP4 conversion off of Ultra Mobile 3g Converter. Okay I know 3g is a phone format, but it also converts to MP4, WMV, all phone formats, and AVI along with a bunch of audio formats.
I am pretty happy with it. Good quality video. I do wish I could figure out why the wmv is always re-formatted while syncing to my Z80.
With the MP4, I set it as high as I can go with this particular program and no problems, no reformatting.
Any ideas?

You jacking my thread?
Nah, just kidding. Go right ahead.
Thats kinda strange, that problem you are having, I have a Zune 80, and I don't have that problem.
This is what I use to convert video:

It works okay, plus its free! But on some of my video's the sound is off. If someone has a better video converter (thats free ). Please post link to download? Thanks!

Is your WMV video codec complexity set to complex or simple?

Sorry I really did get off topic didn't I? Never an audio issue though.
I guess I will have to play more with the settings to get top notch quality and the correct settings.
I do not have an option for complex or simple. However, if you mean wmv1 or wmv2, I have used wmv2. Perhaps that is my problem?

WMV2? I've never heard of that. I usually use WMV v8 (version 8).

You know what, that was a big brain fart on my part. I was looking at audio codec haha.
But I do actually have the same on the video codec portion so...hmm, I do not know.
This program was primarily made for converting video and audio for phones.
I could always purchase their Zune specific software.

There's a lot of converters with Zune presets here: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/gen...softwares.html

I guess I will stick with my Ultra Mobile 3g Converter because the Super C is having http referrer hiding problems which I cannot seem to fix right now. Even disabling the firewall does not work. No big deal, my converter creates really nice MP4 video.
If it aint broke, dont fix it...or get another thing that does the same thing. Yup.
