Gen 2 Help with the Zune 4, 8, 16, 80, and 120.

Default HELP ME!


Okay so i just received my Originals Red 80 about two days ago, and the worst of the worst happened. I turned it on and it worked or about two seconds then it froze and went to a screen with a number 5 in the upper left corner, a zune with an X on the screen, and a box that says "contact support". I'm very aggravated about this. Also if i send it in for repairs will they send me a refurb black 80 because i have a Red 80 with engraving in the back?! I really hope that's not the case.

p.s. I've tried restarting it, didn't work.

Try doing a hard reset.

reinstall firmware, keep on retrying and see what happens.. but that really sucks if microsoft/zune only send you a refurb black..

Hm, I heard of this before. How about contacting support???! Lol, if it was me and my Zune said Contact Support, that would be the first thing to do.

but the contact support wont help him.. they're willing to give him a "black refurbished zune 80" not a red one.. so that's not good-.-

That really SUCKS what happened to your red zune 80.....
I don't know if you read the thread that i posted yesterday,but i also got the message number 5 thing on my black zune 80(which i had for only three weeks or somthin)......and i myself haven't tried to format and reinstall so the firmware here's the noob question: HOW/WHERE CAN I REINTALL AND FORMAT MY FIRMWARE??? (hoping this will solve my problem!!)

"Press and hold back + center + play buttons and it will delete everything on it, as well as the firmware."...thats the hard reset. Hope it works for you. It didn't for me.

UPDATE: Ok so after the hard reset failing, I decided to call ZO. We talked for about 15 minutes and decided that the best option would be a replacement. She also stated that i will be replaced with a Red 80 with the same art work! YAY! I'll be receiving a box in 5 days to ship my broken one and in 15 days they'll send me a new one. It just sucks this happen to happen. Better now than later I guess :-)!

p.s. The pics are when I FIRST got it (three days ago)

i would reformat the zune by doing the combination that removes everything off your zune(back + center + left buttons). Then open the zune program and hook your zune up. It should automatically see your zune has no firmware and will download it.

Tried that, was stuck in please wait screen then went back the screen (5) "contact support". I'll just wait for the box to send it in. Thanks for the suggestion though.

so mainly, you have no chances of doing anything besides sending it back to microsoft to get it fix or replaced?

Dark read this, microsoft is willing to do a replacement and then he will get his engraving the same and red back also.. lolz

Pretty much. I'd rather have a brand new 80 than have me do a temporary fix on this 80 and have it break like one year and a day later.
