Default Browse Zune Device by Genre, Artist

Is it possible to browse the Zune the device by Genre, then Artist? I've read that you browse to Genre then browse to the side, but all that does is change what Genre I am browsing.

Thanks,
Eric

You won't be able to see the artists in a specific genre though.

I don't think the device allows that, only song titles. Unless you rename your songs to include the artist as the first part of the title...

Yeah, I don't really mind my genres being like that. i do mind my Tenacious D songs being in the Unknown catagory with Biggie. I hate that.

Theres no such thing as genre folder. The genre is obtained from the music file.

Yes, the genre is taken from a tag in the MP3 file (not sure wher eit gets it from for WMA files). You can edit the genre tag using MP3Tag (wonder if I can link now...) http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

In the example above, sort by Genre in MP3Tag and most of the R N B RnB etc entries should be together, then select all of them and change them to R&B or whatever, so they're all the same. You could also easily change the genre of tracks by Tenatious D to "Freaking Awesome!!!" and it would probably work.

WOW.... if you know hot to edit mp3 tag with mp3tag, then you should know how to edit wma using mp3tag. It's the same thing.

Leave the genre blank or edit it to UNKNOWN would put the music into the UNKNOWN section.

Oh, I know how to edit them, I'm just less sure of the internal structure of the file: Whether it has support for all the Tags MP3's support, or whether they reference a seperate tag file for example.

They use the same tag. You can edit every option in mp3tag software on a .wma audio track.
