A few questions before I buy a Zune...

1. Does it work with Mac OS X? If not, do you think new firmware in the future will make it compatible?

2. Can it play internet radio such as drone zone on soma.fm or anything like that via a .pls file?

3. How does album art appear? Will ALL art appear once connected, or do you have to select/play the songs you want the art to appear on?

4. Is there a limit to the number of times you can share music/photos via WiFi with others (and no I don't refer to the 3X3 BS)?

5. Is there an equilizer for music/movie audio?

1. Currently there is no Mac support, but I'm sure that is something Microsoft will remedy in the future.

2. The Zune itself cannot stream files but the Zune software can like any other audio player.

3. The album art is automatically downloaded by the Zune software, it goes by the "ID Tag" information on the file itself, so if you don't have an album entered into the file then no album art will show up. See the orange text "Fixed" in the screenshot, you can edit this ID info in the Zune software or using other tools.


NOTE: You can also drag and drop album art to the Zune software, you can even drag and drop album art from Websites such as Amazon.com.

4. There are no limits to how many songs you can share with others, just how many times they can play them.

5. There is a built in equalizer with for music with 8 settings, ranging from classical to rock.

It would have been cool to stream audio from the WiFi too...

I have a few more questions - If I have a star rating set up on some of my songs in iTunes, will they show up on the Zune? Can your Zune ID (the one for sharing or for the market place) be changed? Or is it a one time set up that cannot be changed again?

Also, If I have a playlist on iTunes, can I put it onto the Zune?

The Zune software won't recognize the iTunes star ratings that I know of... maybe someone will figure out a way to import/export from one to the other but at this time I don't think it is possible, I haven't disected either software so maybe it is as simple as an XML file, I just don't know at this point. I believe your iTunes playlists save as a normal .pls file (uninstalled iTunes about 6 months ago so not certain) which can be read by the Zune. The Zune tag can be changed, I don't have time to research it right now but I know it can... mine is my Xbox Live ID and the Xbox Live ID costs 10 bucks to change (for game exploiting reasons) but I'm sure the Zune Tag can be changed for free. I'll do some research later (headed to the movies) or maybe someone else can give feedback about it.
