I got a new cell phone yesterday after loosing my old one at the Beach. This morning I was messing around with it at my desk and was listening to my Zune at the same time. I sat the phone down and started checking my email. I looked over at my phone and it was Searching for Service. Which was strange because I was just messing around with it a minute ago.. So I pick the phone up and right when I'm about to restart it, It gets its signal back. I thought it was strange but sat the phone back down and went back to reading emails. I look over, and its doing it again! So this time I do restart it and even call my house to test it. Everything Works fine. I grabbed my home phone and called the cell. Everything seems to work fine. So I was trying to figure out what could be causing it. Then it hits me, Every time I sat the phone down, I set it right next to my Zune! So I sat the phone back down by the Zune and stared at the phones screen. Sure enough, within 5 seconds the phone looses its signal... So I was wondering if this happens to anyone els? I've tried it in different rooms and even outside. It happens even if the Zune's wireless is turned off. I really wouldn't consider it a "Problem". Its Just kinda funny/strange. I've tried to take a picture but I can't get my camera to focus on my Phones little screen... So far this has been the best phone I've had. I've had service everywhere I go, Even in elevators! The Zune seems to be the only service killer so far.

but it only dropped the signal when it was next to zune side to side. when i placed it on top and behind it, it did nothing weird:P |

So I guess that would mess up the whole "zune phone" idea!

?. I figured that was causing this to happen. I've had cordless house phones cause me to loose my wireless connection. Its just strange that it happens even with Wireless turned off.

But the wireless is supposed to be running on the 802.11x sturcture. What the issue most likley relates to is EMI (ElctroMagnetic Interference) from the spinning Hard-Drive.

Odd, I tried everything I can to lose signal... but I guess my phone is good! I tried turning WiFi on, and putting music on, but no luck. Signals still full.

This is a simple solution, it's wi-fi!
Wi-Fi is a major producer of Electrical Noise802.11 b and g both operate at 2.4GHz Cell Phones (GSM) uses 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, and 1900MHz Cell Phones (CDMA) uses 900MHz and 1800MHz Cell Phones (TDMA) uses 800MHz - 1000MHz, and 1.7GHz - 2GHz TDMA comes the closest to the 802.11b/g standard, so that means Nextel/Boost users will have the greatest issue being the closest to the same spectrum. But then again, anything that is electrical emits noise, so if your in a room with a lot of electricity (Right now I have my Zune, TV, Laptop, Light, and Cell Phone running, and it's going to keep the noise level elevated until one or more of those devices are shut off. |
