Zune Questions

Is it possible to keep my files on the zune without actually have them on my harddrive?! I converted alot of video files just for the Zune and it's just eating up space since they are copies of the original AVI's.ÂÂ*ÂÂ*My other question would could it be my zune that caused all my video files to crash my computer recently?ÂÂ*ÂÂ*I insatlled the zune software converted about 5gb of video and my computer suddenly started getting errors and the applications along with windows explorer crashes.

I forgot to add that my zune when docked gives me an incorrect space remaining number and says it's going to be full after a sync when I know for a fact it's not.

Mine said the same thing at first but what I did was a format first off. I think that might be a good thing to start with for the full device issue. As for the other one. As of right now you have to keep the files on your computer or the next time you sync the software will pull it off your Zune.

I just discovered the same problem. It said I had 18gigs earlier today, now it says I have 7, and i haven't added anything, wtf?

yeah it was pretty gay while trying to fix that i ended up reformatting my zune and losing the preloaded content :

did anyone come up with a fix for this? I have the same problem.

Also, Whenever I sync if ive deleted the content from my desktop it removes it from my zune....this is a big hassle! any solution???

I've not had any problem with deleting files from my computer and it removing them from my Zune. And to be honest, I don't know why it would do that. Do you have it autosync? I turned that off and turned off checking of all folders. My computer is far too cluttered to let it do any syncing for me.

Well, now I can say that I have had this happen as well. I was reorganizing songs and videos on my computer to make it easier for me to find and I moved my videos to a new drive. This morning, all of my videos were gone from my Zune.

After looking through the Zune's help file, I noticed this:

"Zune software removes all existing music, videos, and pictures from your Zune device, and copies the music, videos, and pictures from the current library to your device."

This was in regards to the hooking up of your Zune to another computer, but it sounds as if your library changes, it will change it on your Zune when you sync. Kind of annoying, but I guess I'll have to get used to it and stop moving files around on my computer.

It really makes it difficult to use the zune for me. I have a laptop with limited space. If i delete something from the laptop for space, I would prefer it not be deleted from the zune until im damn good and ready. The 1st gen ipod had the same glitch with itunes...i hoped we could be beyond this stage with the zune software. Anyonw know how to get around this???

On another thread here today, someone said that Microsoft just realized this glitch when they called. So, I'm hoping it is fixed with a new firmware upgrade. Sad that it may not come out until spring. I know what you mean about limited space. Although I don't have that problem on my desktop, I do on my laptop. And when I travel, that will be what I use to sync up.
