I have been searching for the solution to this for a week. Not sure who this applies to... I don't have problems with an XP SP2 machine at work, however my Vista Home Premium machine seems to be the culprit.
After syncing video or music, playback on the Zune device has issues with digital clipping and/or SKIPPING to the next track prematurely. (Note: these are NOT marketplace files) I have the latest Zune Software & Firmware and the Guest Zune Hack applied.http://www.zuneboards.com/content/view/52/2/ Proposed solution: First... If your PC has installed M$ Hotfix KB929399 there may have been an error during installation. If the Zune software or MP 11 was running during this automatic update it may have not installed properly. Specifically a file named msscp.dll may be corrupt. To update / re-install this .dll file do the following: Goto Services in the Task Manager: Stop the Service called "Zune Network Sharing Service" (this should be done to make sure the .dll file isn't in use) Open Command Prompt: click Start - in the search box - type "cmd" this should open a DOS command prompt window Type: "regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msscp.dll" You should recieve a message box indicating the .dll file was updated successfully. (See Microsoft KnowledgeBase Article ID 934911) Restart the Zune Network Sharing Service: Start the Zune software: This should fix ALL music playback issues. You will need to delete problematic files from the Zune device and re-sync to correct the files. The next step corrected any Video Syncing / Playback issues I had... AFTER starting the Zune Software: right click on the desktop icon OR actual .exe file for Zune and click properties. Select the "Compatability" Tab: Check the check box to run the application in Windows XP SP2 Compatibility Mode This may or may not have to be done AFTER the application is started AND the Zune device is recognized AND shows up in the Navigation Pane. I have had limited success in keeping the Application in compatibility mode 100% of the time. It seems there are some administrtive rights issues when using compatibility mode. The critical time to use Compatibility Mode is DURING the Sync... Maybe someone could create a script or batch file to easily switch between Compatibility Mode on / off? I will look into this myself and add a link or directions if I am successful. I presume a batch file would be pretty easy (I don't know if there are switches in cmd prompt to switch to / from compat. mode) |
