Should be able to drag it into the Zune software window as if you are going to play it. or goto the options menu and goto open file tehn point to it. If it cannot find the file as all media types then you will have to convert it to WMV. At least that is my experience.

put it in your My DocumentsMy Videos folder. In the Zune software, make sure that that folder is set to be monitored for synchronizing. It'll probably try to convert it to WMV since no one really knows how to sync an mp4 file yet.

Sync options (on the right side when connected) -> "Zune name" -> Set up Sync.
Just add "All Videos' or "All Pictures" or just what ever playlists you want right there. You can even tell it which is more important. If you want I can put up screen shots later

If you can acquire a free full copy, then go for it. I've used it before it's quite good. I use it mostly for getting something straight off of a DVD to .mp4 format, without conversion in the middle.

No I read some posts that they decided not to use the codec. I could be wrong but I don't think that it will support mp4

The mp4 is supported in the Zune software, but not on the Zune. So basically, the software can convert all your mp4's into wmvs.
