Default zune firmware problems

something happened to my zune firmware. Now it wants me to connect to the computer and "restore firmware". When I connect it, the Zune software tries to update the firmware, but fails.

did you try to reformat your zune?... why is it trying to update?

Maybe you need to reformat your zune.

Cool

Uninstall and reinstall Zune Marketplace...
During reinstalling, you will be prompted to connect your Zune.
It won't recognize it and will want to wipe it and restore it to factory settings. You won't lose your library, but you may lose any preloaded content.

Hope that helps...

I tried it, the software transferred the firmware, but it said something about not being able to save the sync settings because the device is full. Then the update failed.

hmm.... that's troublesome. Maybe you should connect it.. and see what happens.

Then empty your zune within the software. I think you right click it in the left panel of the software and select clear contents of this device... or something like that.

It won't let me clear it. The only option I get when accessing the Zune through the software is to update the firmware (which fails miserably)

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Just call microsoft and yell at them and they'll send you a new one. Warranty really isnt an issue considering the one I sent back was purchased at Cash Converters!
