Default Yet to experience Zune..due to install issues :(

Bought a Zune for my wife on her birthday.

Installed Zune software on Vista RC2 -- Install failed
Then tried on windows XP SP2 tablet pc edition -- Install failed
Finally, tried on my wife's notebook running XP SP2 --- Zune installation froze. Had to reboot machine.
(repeat installs results in hangs)

This has been my experience so far. No luck with using Zune software. Unable to load any of our songs on the device. Very frustrating....that too when this is a birthday gift...

Any help?

Try downloading the install file from the Zune's official web page. That is one reason why it didn't work on RC2.

If that doesn't work, let us know.

Gotto try Vista RTM later.

Some progress on the the XP SP2 notebook :
1)Installed "\Packages\ZUNE\msxml6-x86-ENU(Zune).exe"
2) Zune software installed fine after this.

Still unable to scan for Zune.
Zune device says "connected". Zune software is still missing the device.

I am not giving up.....but am afraid my wife might. (She was rooting for an Ipod...but I gifted her this Zune that is yet to work for us )

Register the Windows Media Device Manager (WMDM) for Zune devices service. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Zune\zunesp.dll", and then click OK. You receive the following message:
DllRegisterServer in C:\Program Files\Zune\zunesp.dll succeeded.
b. Click OK.

If that doesn't work, try uninstalling your Zune software (using Add/Remove Programs), and re-install.
(saw it on a microsoft site)

thanks man - That didn't work for me either.
I spent more time doing install & uninstall, registering the dlls, installing msxml parser ---repeating all this over and again several times in different orders too.
Still the Zune software can't find the Zune device
(tried couple of other MS support KB articles. NO LUCK)

what about calling tech support?

also what you could do is find a computer with the zune software installed so you can try your Zune player on this computer.
pretty quick way i think, to figure out if the problem is in your PC configuration, or with your player itself.

what about reformatting the Zune player , if the above doesnt work

also a link to check out: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929357/en-us
