I recently bought a new pair of skullcandy ink'd in-ear earphones and found out that when I put the volume to 0 on my zune 30, i can still hear the music playing very softly. also, when i put the volume on 1, the music seems to be very loud. (i have sensitive ears) Does anyone know how to fix this or has anyone else experienced this?

Do you have a volume control bar on the earphones themselves?

Don't reset! Good God, what is with you people and resetting every damn thing? That's not going to fix a speaker output problem, but if you want to delete everything off your Zune and have to re-sync it, go for it. I don't even see a problem with the volume not turning off all the way, it's not like you can't TAKE THE HEADPHONES OUT or pehaps PAUSE THE SONG.

Though I can't tell you why you can hear music at 0, I can tell you that 1 is pretty loud for me as well. I'm not sure if I have sensitive ears or not, but 1 is loud enough for me overall for music, and only irregularly low songs will require me to turn up the volume.

Just wondering did you try a hard reset...or a restart...because those are two totally different things. If you did a hard reset...try a simple restart. To restart your zune press back and up at the same time and wait for the zune logo to appear. Sometimes a simple restart can do the trick.
If that doesn't work then I really have no clue..call MS...just a suggestion.

IT"S NOT THE FIRMWARE. It's obviously an audio problem, which is completely unrelated. Call and ask for a replacement or go on living with the horrible problem of the volume not going all the way off. God forbid.

How can you be so sure. It only makes sense that they run through the basics before resorting to requesting a new unit. I realize that restoring the device is not going to fix every issue, but it should at least be given a try. I don't see why an audio issue has to be hardware related, since the firmware dictates how loud the audio is being played. The hardware should dictate how loud it can be. When you turn the volume down doesn't the actual process consult the firmware for increments in volume and then reduce or increase the volume by that much through the hardware?
