Try doing a hard reset if you can.

ok heres the deal now, i can only do a reset or anything while its conneceted to a wire otherwise itl keep resetting. Now heres the twist, when i say delete all of my items while the zune is halfway through its loading sequence it boots up normally!
but as soon as i unplug the cable it shuts off...
so this problem maybe have something to do with the zunes battery?

Thanks...

if i do a hard reset, how do i re-install the firmware? the music is nt a problem..

The software will load the firmware on the device.

PS: Try not to double post.

I would think it is the battery, if your warranty is up maybe take it apart and get a new battery... but I would say as a last resort, 2nd last being contact MS

if your under warranty for microsoft or store.. just take it back or call them.. thats your option.. or else its just having to either throw it away/part it out.. or replace the battery yourself...

Yeah, that's what happened to my first one. If it's still under warranty, send it to MS and they'll send you a refurbished one in a couple days.

yea, i'd suggest that you contact ms instead of opening the zune itself (if you open it, i heard that it'll terminate any warranty that you have on it)

how can they tell though?
its not like with the psp how there's a sticker covering one of the screws or anything
the only way theyd know is if you took out the hard drive and ripped those litlle golden sticker things

Hey I'm having a similar problem, but when I get it, it doesnt work at all without plugging in, and when I do plug in it just flashes the zune logo.
Did you manage to fix the problem some how?

yup i to have the same problem, i took mine apart after upgrading my hard drive and my 100 gig hdd will boot up to the end and will make a loud click sound then shut off and will do this repeatly when the sync cable is hooked up, but will not boot up at all without the sync cable. When I put my old 30 gig drive in the zune logo flashes with the sync cable connected and the hdd doesn't even run. When I run the board with the no drives and the cable plugged, the zune logo hangs(I know its suppose to do this cause theres no firmware for it to boot).
