Default Now heres an epic problem

First and foremost I haven't a clue whether this is technically in the right place. Now I say this because I have a 30G zune that was upgraded to an 80g zune somehow (before I bought it). Now what has happened is it has evidently crashed. It will not respond to me trying to restart it (holding the <- button while pressing the top of the circle), nor does it respond to me pressing the play/pause button. NOW, what makes this even more interesting is when I plug it in to my computer, it just falls in and out of linking up via usb port. Please help, seeing as how I bought this off of ebay and I doubt it will be covered under any warrenty seeing as how its all screwy now

The usual suspects: make sure its not connected to a hub, some computers have hubs built in, easy way to check is to go to My computer, Right click, Properties, select hardware, click Device manager, from there expand USB controllers, and count how many USB root hubs you have listed, then count the amount of USB ports your computer has, if you have more ports than hubs, you will need to connect your zune to different ports until you find one that connects stably. Try to be sure not to use any USB extension cables, and if you can, get a charger for your zune. Try the hard reset... Look it up. If nothing else, try using UNZOONE to uninstall the zune software and drivers, and re-download the zune software and install it again, if even that doesn't help, try another computer.

As long as you live in the US and the warranty for the zune hasn't expired, you can send it to Microsoft replace it for free.

Jack, the zune was bought off a guy from eBay, it had a custom hard drive in it, and if it was on warranty, wouldn't it be under the other guy's name?

Thank you all for your imput, I figured out the problem from a post in another thread. Despite the fact that I NEVER under any circumstances put it on lock the combination of "Lock, Unlock, Lock, Unlock, Backbutton, Up" seemed to do the trick, although now I have the interesting problem of having songs skipping on me. What I suspect is that this is due to the fact that I was charging my zune while downloading songs (so the songs uploaded as soon as they were done downloading), so I'm going to attempt to remidy this by removing and adding all the songs. I appreciate all of your feedback immensly

I doubt he's a caveman.

I guess you could try to replace it, just don't tell them it was upgraded. As long as it isn't apparant that it was worked on it should work.

I can't go back to having 30 gigs, I've had this thing for 3 weeks and its at about 36, and thats cause of some restraint on my part

The skipping might be caused by hard drive problems. This is a problem with hard drive devices. If they are shaken while they are playing, it could cause the hard drive to skip, and or damage it.

Oh... I thought the guy meant the ebay guy gave him a zune 80 instead of a zune 30. Since it had a custom hdd in it, MS won't accept it.

I deleted and re-entered all the music from my zune and the skipping was due to downloads going straight on my zune

wow....i mean ,other than what these guys have said, you cant really do much more. I don't think you can do anything more. The guy tampered with it, and I mean, it was a gamble buying it in the first place. you might have just wasted your money. sorry man.
