Default Zune Software Slow in Windows Vista

So I upgraded to Windows Vista and the OS runs fine, except when listening to music through my Zune software. When I double-click a song to play it, it takes several seconds (20-30 seconds) for the song to actually begin playing. And as the song is playing, sometimes it skips or stutters. What's the deal?

I updated my Zune software to the latest edition (for Vista compatibility). I even downloaded all the latest Vista updates, defragmented my hard drive, cleaned it up using disk cleanup...but the problem is still there.

Anyone else with Vista have this problem?

I don't even think the software is that quick and smooth running on a light install of XP.

It ran fine in XP...much better than it does now. But you're right...it wasn't really all that fast then either, haha.

As a whole, the Zune program was a letdown

What your experiencing, however, is probably just a bug in Vista. It'll probably be fixed when they release SP1 for Vista

Figured it out guys! It's not a problem with the Zune software, it's Vista's sound enhancements. If you're running Windows Vista and the Zune/Windows Media Player software seems slow/unresponsive, go to your speaker properties and disable all enhancements. Apparently my sound card doesn't like them. My Zune software is quick and snappy again.

I was going to ask this same question, only I'm running XP Media Edition. I was wondering if it was my computer or the software. It runs really sluggish, has a tendency to lock up on me, and while I'm ripping a CD, the sound on the computer gets really funky and echoey. Anyone know if there will be a software update to fix this? Also, why does it take so long to rip a CD? It's been a while since I messed with an MP3 player, but I don't remember it taking me like 10-15 minutes to do a CD...
