I have version 2.3 and can't seem to get used to it. I have 2 computers, one is the main connection, the other is a guest. I seem to have a problem with a lot of duplicate songs. I was at work, on my guest-connection laptop, and spent like 3 hours renaming files and deleting duplicates. I had copied all songs to "my collection" (whatever that means) so I could play the songs directly from the zune. If they are not in "my collection" but only under "music/device", they don't play when I click on them. Anyway, I get home, connect to my main PC, and all the files are back and duplicated, names have reverted back. I had done things like change song "01.mp3" to "Sunshine" or whatever it was called. Now I am back to a million songs that are labeled "track 01, Track 14, 01" you get the point. So,
1)why do I have to copy everything to "my collection" before I can listen to it/burn from it? 2)How do I keep my changes 3)what is "my collection" and why do I need it? 4)how do I change what album the song is in? Is there any way to drag/drop songs into an album already made? 5)How can I be so dumb? I have never been computer illiterate before, but holy hell, this new software is killing me. |

1)because the songs are not in your collection, only on ur zune, easy thing to do is connect your zune, close the program, and play the songs from the zune
Also, you dont need to keep copying to your collection if the songs are on the computer and in the software 2)Make sure automatic update is off i guess, in zune software go to Settings, choose software, go to collection, and uncheck automatically update media information Also what did you use to tag the songs? 3)"My collection" is the files on the software, when you open you software, you see how it says collection, device, etc. the collection is the same thing as "my collection", all the songs you added to it 4)best way is to use a mp3 tagger like wmp11 or other ones Hope this helps

You can change the folder(s) that the Zune software finds its music from so you won't have to continue to copy files into a certain folder to have the software recognize it. Most likely you are getting the duplicates because you've copied them and changed the names, so your computer thinks they are different files.
