Default ZUne detected by windows fine, no support in software though

Alright heres the process's i've gone through to get my zune working with my desktop.
For the record it works fine with my laptop.

First try, I installed zune software, updated zune to 1.1 firmware and updated zune software.
Device manager shows zune connected fine and there are no driver issues. No sync options though in zune software. I installed the zune hd patch to see if the zune was detected. Shows up fine after patch.

I removed all patches and software, checked my windows media player 11 and it was fine, no issues. I checked all windows updates and no issues. Un-installed software and started from cd with no internet connection for updates.

I then used my laptop the same way and installed and updated the firmware to 1.2 and it works fine with laptop.

I've gone through the process of un installing wmp11 and re installing as well. Same issue every time.

One thing i notice is when i setup the zune it says the driver is not certified. I followed all the MS steps and guidelines on the support page and that doesn't fix it.

The pc is an Intel core2duo 6600 on asus p5b deluxe wifi, 3gb ram, 1.5tb sata storage, MCE 2005 (licensed and activated). There shouldn't be any issue with it. \

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Update:
well 5 hrs after i've been troubleshooting this i found a solution

seems to be a common issue now too

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929357/en-us

i suggest a mod stickies that url for the problem.

Indeed it did lol.

I'm working on getting another monitor
I have a 2407 Dell 24" and a 2005fpw 20"

Going for two 24's - I use it for Audio Production

Over all i've probably got a little over $2500 into it as it's been pieced together

my PC cost $2000 and after i bought the Zune i found out thst it doesnt work with windows XP MCE 2004 SP2, even though on the box it says that system requirements are windows XP SP2 or later. Dam it MS were you mis leading with that crap? Did you want that to happen in hopes that i would buy another computer? Its just a good thing i haye apple products otherwise i would say forget the Zune and just go get an ipod (not really i'll probably end up using my laptop which i didnt want to do).

its probably a service issue.

run services.msc>>>

locate zune networking sharing>>>

make sure its enabled>>>

if its says there a dependency service thats not working try UPNP (unviersal plug and play) >>>

enable that the restart your computer and see if that helps >>>

I' had the same problem amy solution was to do the factory reset procedure, and it wipes your unit clean as the day that you bought it.
1. unplug the unit from computer
2. press the left arrow and up button the put the unit asleep.
3. press the left arrow, left outer ring and center button all at once not an easy task.
4. follow the direction on your zune, it will ask you to connect to your computer so you might want to have the zune software online. It will also ugrade your firmware

Question Tried the procedure, step-by-step and...

Now I'm unable to get the firmware to reload at all. My computer recognizes my Zune and says it has installed the software for it, but it doesn't show up in My Computer or the Device Manager. I have the updated software, but when it comes time for the firmware to be downloaded it's as though my computer loses it's connection with the server. The download of the firmware stays at 0% percent and my computer icons in the taskbar show absolutely no activity.

I at least had the basic firmware before, but now I have nothing and no way to get the firmware. I continue to get the error message telling me that it's unable to sync, but my Zune shows up in the software when I connect it.

I'm really open to any suggestions.

This was for the old software. Probably irrelevant now
