Question Zune not communicating (among other things)

I have several issues that I cannot solve. First of all, I bought two Zune 30 machines. I installed the software on our XP machine which took several attempts and would not install correctly while I was connected to the internet because the update crashed my computer upon installation attempts. When I disconnected the internet connection, it installed what it had on the CD. I struggled to get the first Zune to communicate but it is running. Then I plugged in the second Zune. It did not recognize it. Since the Zune was sitting plugged in overnight, it is fully charged. My son uses the FM radio on it since I cannot load any music or videos from my computer. I noticed two things: I cannot shut the Zune off and the battery indicator on the bottom of the screen is still moving like it is charging even when it is disconnected. I assume that this is also a problem.

So my questions are, is there a way to actually use two Zunes even though I only have one computer? Next, is there some third party software that runs better than the Zune software which I do not believe is correctly installed. Actually, I don't care if the third party software runs worse as long as it recognizes this second Zune.

I am just some old parent trying to make this thing work for my young adult kid. These are Christmas presents if that tells you how long I have been trying to find a solution to these problems.

Thanx in advance,
steve

Try resetting it.

Push the button the left of the squircle(the back button) and hold up on the squircle. After a few seconds, it will reset. Then see if it at least turns off.

You can use two Zunes on a computer, but not at the same time.

There is only a Zune Service Provider Alternator which lets you use Winamp or WMP 11 to sync to the Zune, but currently you need to have the Zune Software 2.0 installed and detecting your Zune to use it.

I hope this helps. Post here if you need anything else.

Kewl. I successfully reset this Zune. The moving battery indicator is stopped. Now about the software, what should I try to have it communicate?

Hum. Probably a driver issue.

You could try one of the experimental fixes here: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/gen...t=experimental
