Default Turning On/Off

This may be a stupid question but, when you hold the play button to turn the Zune off, does it actually turn off or does it go into a sort of "stand by" mode? And if this is the case, is there anyway to turn the Zune straight to an off state?

Pressing the play button simply turns the Zune into standby mode. If you wish to completely turn your Zune off, hold on to the back button, and the down button for 4 seconds.

It turns it off but then it takes a little longer to start back up. And starting back up uses battery life also.

Yes, but what takes up more battery; Starting up, or being on Standby for a few hours?

Shutting it down does make it display the Zune's "splash" screen and stops the current track, but it saves a lot of battery life

I notice that when mine is in "standby" for a long time (a few day) I will start it back up and it will go through the complete start up proc.
