For people that need to return zune w/o receipt.

hey ive made a couple post on how my zune doesnt work at all and so i deceided to return it to walmart.
it took about 10 mins and i got a new zune without a receipt! i was pretty glad to see that walmart let me exchange and they asked for i wanted store cred. but i just wanted a new one. good thing because i purchased a used one off ebay for $130 and so i basically made $120 from walmart. so if u have a zune that doesnt work anymore then save all ur stuff like box and stuff and tell them u want a new one.

ps-im sure costco would do the same because they are pretty lenient about returns.

I just took my Zune back to Wal-mart to exchange it for another Zune. They check the Serial number on both the box and the Zune. So I don't quite know how this would work.

Your Zune is covered for the first year under warranty. If you CANT return it to a retailer, Microsoft will send you a box to ship the zune back so they can replace/repair it. I found this out while dealing with MS customer service. MS said they Will NOT accept a return without a recipt.

On the other hand. As long as you have all the original packaging. I'm sure that you could probably return the Zune that you recieved as a "gift" to walmart without a recipt for replacement regardless of what the serial numbers were on the box or player as long as they matched

So, in a series of unfortunate events, I've lost the receipt to my Zune. And it just goes to show that karma leaves no one aside. My Zune is starting to glitch up. I was wondering if anyone has a white Zune, well, the receipt to it, send me a picture of it. Microsoft wants the receipt to it in order to make any free repairs. If you could send a link to a picture, or just email me a picture, that'd be so awesome. I know you guys rock, why else would I be with such a great bunch of people?

Thanks for the consideration, however if I got it off of eBay, then there would be no warrenty for it, seeing as how it's only valid for the first owner.

If it were like 20 or 30 bucks, I wouldn't mind so much, but they want 109+ s&h. If I had that kind of money, I'd save a bit longer and get a Zune 80.

Check this out: i bought a Belkin battery accessory for my 1st gen zune for about 24 bucks on sellout.woot well when i got it the back kept popping off when i put my zune in. so i was at officemax one day and saw the same battery for 60 bucks i bought it and returned the defective one. Made a good profit

i dont get it..... it might be beacuse i just woke up 5 minutes ago... but how can u make a profit off that???

u first had to shell out $60.00 at the store.... then put the defective one in the box, took it back to store, and they gave u ur $60.00 back!

i dont see any profit, just that u got a new one instead of the one off the internet.

like i said, i just woke up and may not comprehend it.

Remember: Returning anything to a store claiming it is from that store, but you simply lost the receipt, even when you know it is not, it is considered fraud. So you know, that's a big thing to have on your police record.

Not to mention the fact that most stores will check the UPC code and find it's not in their records.

True dat. I bought it from RadioShack, which apparently has only a 30 day warranty, and lucky enough for me, I'm well out of that 30 days. I was talking to the guy there and the best he could do (or so he said) was to exchange it for another one (That's what I wanted anyway). But MS says that it's got a 1year warranty, which I fall under. Is there any reason that he couldn't exchange it on the spot, without the receipt? I mean, I was the one that bought it, at that same location, and he obviously had all my information right in front of him... Anyway, there's apparently only 4 first gen Zune's across the U.S.A.(In RadioShack stores), and none of them are white. 2 brown, and 2 black. Shouldn't I automatically get the exchange for it if the damage to it isn't my fault?
