Well, I'm gonna have to get my Zune fixed I think after I dropped it and the play/pause button stopped functioning. But the rest of the device was lagging too, which kinda scared me.
I was in Texas recently, so I used guest mode on the computer there to put pictures and the Amity Lane CD on it. Well, synced it up home but it couldn't read it so I did a clean reset. Lost the content, but I'm re-dling the videos (only part that matters to me) as I type this. WELL, synced it up, got it working (cept for play/pause) and...would you guess it? The damn thing says it's 17.7 gigs full. That.is.impossible. I scanned the storage through the HD hack itself and it says 17.7 gigs too, but then when I scanned music, pictures, video, there was only 7 gigs on there, so I'm thinking there is an error. Anyone know how to fix this?

Try formatting your Zune.

Well, i am had a similiar trouble, i think it was due to pulling the sync cable out during the sync. I didnt think it would make a difference. But i think it has. I only have 4gigs in use at the moment. The marketplace says i have 7gigs in use, the storage info on the zune also says 4gigs. And the removable disk says 4gigs. Not sure why. I just deleted lots of stuff off, then resynced fully. Its fine now.
Sorry to hear about your broken button. |

This is probably somewhere in the FAQ but:
Reset Zune by pressing th eBack button and Up on the disk controller Format Zune via Zune software menu Options>Sync> your Zune Name> remove all files from device (or something like that) Restore Zune to its "Out of the Box" state by Doing a Reset (Back button and Up) and then immediately after the screen goes black press the Back button, Left disk and the center button all together. Hold until you get a screen that says "Please wait" and the Zune will reset to it's out of the box state. There will be instructions on the screen for you to follow at this point sinc you need to update the firmware again. I can tell you that trying to do the restore is hard if youhave normal sized hands. Smaller hands would be better. Pressing that 3 button combo after the Reset is difficult and took me several attempts before it actually worked. Before you resync remember to remove your device from the Zune Software on your computer by right clicking your device name and select Delete. Your Zune should resync normally after the firmware update |

New developments. My main computer's internet has been killed for some reason even though I have it plugged right into the router and it says it's connected, so I can't download the latest firmware or anything.
Not that that matters. I can't reformat my Zune at all and my software freezes when I connect it to the USB port and try to sync or reformat it. I can't even see it in my comp. (And yes, I hacked the right USB port.) You can imagine why this is frustrating me. I think what I need to do is (not only get my internet back...somehow) uninstall the Zune software and reformat the Zune in the meantime. Keep the playlist data and album art so it sticks around when I put the software back on. Shouldn't that work? After that, I plan on taking back my Zune and getting a new one. (Maybe in brown) Any more advice is appreciated. Thank you. If I might say, it looks pretty spiffy. >=] Well, yes. I may post a Zune vs. iPod comic soon. Til then, so long, black. YOU'VE LEFT ME DOWN! Now to give it a cool name...
