Those of you using Windows LIve One Care and cannot get your zune to sync wireless, I found out why. Just to be sure it is because of One Care, try wireless sync with the firewall off real quick. If it works after that then follow the steps below to get it working with your firewall on.
1. Start One Care and select "change One Care settings" 2. Select the Firewall tab and click Advanced Settings 3. Under Programs, make sure all Zune programs are allowed. There should be at least two but there was three on mine, allow all of them. 4. After, select Ports and Protocols tab. Make sure the following are checked; ActiveSync, ICMP Outbound, Streaming Video/Audio (IGMP), and Xbox 360 and Network Media Players, if its there. 5. Once finished select Managing and Sharing tab and make sure the following are checked\/ -> Only share them with computers on my local network (subnet) and -> Only computers on my local network (subnet) 6. Click apply and your finished You should be able to wireless sync now, if not post your problems. + rep please if all goes well

Excellent n8dogg! I'm going to move it to the correct place and add it to the common problems sticky!

I tried the suggested steps with regards to one live care firewall but still have an issue syncing the zune wirelessly when one live care is running. I can sync when I turn one live care off.
I tried all the steps listed but not sure what the "managing and sharing tab" is? Is that a tab in one live care advance settings? If so, my version does not seem to have that tab.... I have done all the other steps (ie, all programs are allowed to go through the firewall, etc). Any help would be appreciated... |
