Default Does zune charge when off?

I turned off my zune using down and back and charged it, when I came back to it later in the day it hadn't charged. Is this in fact the way it is supposed to be or is this a potential problem. Okay, thanks.

It should automatically start up when you plug it in. After x amount of minutes, they backlight will turn off.

I don't think it being off should have anything to do with it, but it might not hurt to charge it with the Zune on an see

Should take X amount of seconds I think o.o

Unless it's connected via the Software when the Backlight stays on the entire time.

I found that if I manually put the Zune to sleep (hold down + back) after plugging it in, my Zune would not charge. Most likely this is by design. The hard drive is always spinning if the Zune is awake or in light sleep (paused and screen dimmed). When in deep sleep, the hard drive isn't spinning and it does not seem to draw a charge of any kind. This may have been done to prevent a user from being able to engage the HD without it spinning up first.

Although...it is pretty common for devices to draw a charge even if off. Notebook computers as an example...
