I finally got my Zune and I really like it. I was unable to log on to the website since it got changed, and created a new account so I could log back on. Anyway, my problem got solved, but I don't know how. So, I thought I would post it here to see if anyone else had a similar problem.
Problem: Upon trying to set up my account with Microsoft's Zune marketplace through the Zune software, I get the following message: "Cookies are not enabled. Your browser is not accepting cookies. The Zune registration wizard requires cookies. Please enable cookies and try again." Trouble shooting steps taken: I contacted Microsoft Zune support twice about the Zune account registration and went to tier 3 support both times with no fixes for my account setup and still getting the message saying cookies are not being accepted. I am using IE7 as a web browser with default security settings and Avast antivirus and default Windows Firewall for security. My Windows XP Pro SP2 is completely up to date. I lowered the security settings and accepted all cookies under internet options, and the same happened. I downloaded and installed FireFox. I made it my default web browser and uninstalled IE7 altogether, and still got the cookies error message from the Zune software when trying to set up my account. I lowered the security settings of FireFox, and still got the message from trying to set up my account with the Zune software. I uninstalled the Avast antivirus and tried again, I still got the message. I reinstalled Windows completely, didn't update or install ANYTHING except the Zune software, this time from a download from the website instead of the included CD. I still got the message. I then downloaded and installed the Zune software on my friend's laptop also running Windows XP Pro SP2 completely up to date, and it worked fine on his laptop with no message about not accepting cookies and it went right through the account setup with no problems. Then I disconnected from my internet connection, connected on his network and still had the same problems with the Zune software. So, I woke up yeaterday morning and said "What the hell, I'll give it one more try before I send it back."... and it worked! I did not udate or change anything, it just worked! So, after having used all the features, except for the wireless (no one else that I know of has a Zune in Germany), I have to say I am very pleased with it. If anyone else had this problem, or still does and/or knows what the heck was going on before it let me set everything up, please feel free to post and/or explain the problem. Thanks |

So excited to get my zune last night but came across the same problem you had! Want to ask what you did but it sounds like you have no idea either....Really sad that I can't start the setup wizard....Lowered all my cookies...I realize that your thread has been a while but thought that I would ask if you ever came up with a solution?

Again, months after the last post, I too am having the same issue! Can anyone please help? This is very frustrating. I've lowered it to where ALL cookies are accepted, restarted my computer, refreshed pages, specifically named zume.net to be accepted, & frankly, I'm getting super aggravated! If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks. |

I've had the same issue... I googled my problem and found this solution. I updated my date and time. Once I did, I no longer received the "cookies not enabled" message.
