Default Zune keeps restarting

My new zune keeps restarting. Is this a known problem? Is there a fix?

At what point does it get to before it restarts?
Frequency?
How old?
How long has this been happening?

And any other information you think may be helpful.

Well, I'm not the originator of this thread, but my zune restarted itself at least 3 or 4 times awhile ago. I was listening to it in my car and it restarted after a song went of and while a song was playing. I've had it for about 3 weeks. Any fix? If not, I will call the zune helpline. Will do that anyway. Thanks.

Dude.. We REALLY need more information. From what you said," it keeps restarting.." all I can say is call Microsoft.

Say it's brand new, and you havent done sh!t to it. If they can't find a way to blame you, they'll have to fix it.

Worked for me with the earphones

Or, if you tell us more, we can offer help that won't require MS.

Maybe there was a lot of static electricity in the area around your Zune. I do not know about the new ones, but I know that the old ones would restart if there were a lot of static electricity in order to prevent itself from being damaged.

Or maybe you're some how accidentally pressing the combination buttons for Restart...Back + up? Though that doesn't seem like the case.

I remember my Zune automatically restarted when I pressed the Next Track button...

Well, I ended up taking my zune back to the store and exchanging it for another one because it would restart itself. I did this yesterday. Today, the new zune still restarts itself. It only seems to do so in my car while I'm listening to it. Maybe there's a connection there. Hmm. I still may send it off to Microsoft so they can fix it. I've heard people say to get a case. I do have silicone case. Maybe that is not good enough. It does seem odd to have to have a case at all in order to prevent this.

Wrap your zune in an antistatic bag?

Where would I get such a bag? I've never seen or heard of that for a zune.

Default Having same issue

I've been having the same issue.

I lean forward in my seat, and it restarts.
I get in the car it restarts.
I get off the couch it restarts.

No buttons pressed, nothing hitting it.

I've tried new headphones. Nothing helps.

I live in Florida for goodness sake, and there are very very few low humidity days, so why can't Microsoft admit there is an issue.

I've called Microsoft support to raise an issue, and they say they have no known issues on this.

Based on this thread, looks like they may be just trowing those calls away.

I was listening to a podcast and it froze up. A little different I know but the problem I had was a corrupt file. Could that be your problem?

Starting a couple days ago, my zune wouldnt stop freezing up on me and it wouldnt show any of my album art, so i did some research and figured it was the software, so i downloaded the new one, and deleted everything off of it, now when its trying to sync it restarts after a couple minutes and says 'the device is not responding'.... is it done for or is there something i can do to fix this, ive only had it a few months....

Please help!

I would just call Microsoft at 1-877-GET Zune. I believe that's the number. They helped me when my zune would not come back on. They told me a two button combo and it was fine.
