Default WiFi Connection Issues

Hello,

Having an issue here and it doesn't seem that someone has asked this question yet so. With my ZuneHD I can Sync to my WiFi network with a WPA security enabled and my SSID hidden. BUT it will not accept a wifi connection based on my SSID being hidden when trying to connect to the web.

Now I see my routers MAC address and type in my password but it does not accept it. So is there a way around this without having my SSID public and being able to connect to the web still?

I'm only a newb at this, but I believe that you should try broadcasting the wifi. See if that works first. If should work because mine is the like that, and it works.

If it works, just put a really complicated password on it. Don't worry, the zune will memorize the password for you so u won't need to type it in all the time.

However, if it doesn't work, try it out with other wireless routers. Set it with the same settings and try it out. If it works, then it is the first router's problem. If it still won't connect, then it is something with all the zune hds. If this was the answer, sorry for making u read all of that

When i tried to connect my zune hd to my router w/ broadcasting turned off, somehow it wouldn't connect, so I reseted my router and put it back to WPA with broadcasting. Now it works.

I suspect Zune's will at some point be able to connect with SSID hidden...it has become pretty common. But, you shouldn't bother to hide it anyway...doing so is not 802.11 compliant (so you may run into issues occasionally) and does nothing to improve security- that's a myth. Hidden or not, units trying to connect will probe for it in the clear, and it will respond in the clear.
