Default What's up with the board layout problems?

Hi! Sorry for the blunt title, but I think we all appreciate concise and descriptive thread titles. I wasn't sure where to put this question...

So...

I've been crawling all around the board and lots of *excellent* info- thanks!

The one problem I have been having is with the board itself. With the sponsored ads on the right, I have to scroll 4 pages until I get to any of the board, regardless of the width of my browser. Seems like the layout/width of the pages isn't set correctly...?

This also causes problems with printing. (I wanted to print out some instructions from one of the posts and it's a mess).

Also, I was wondering why all the big (display size, not file size) and distorted images in the signatures? Is there some special reason (hit counts or something) that I don't know about yet?

So please don't take this as a complaint, but as an opportunity to improve. And if I'm wrong, feel free to let me know. I've been on the net since the 80's, so boards aren't new territory for me.

The Zune is relatively new for me, though. I bought a Zune 30 in Nov 07 (needed it for training) and traded it in for a Zune 80 in Dec.

Thanks for your time.

-JC

well, if you don't like the layout, you can try a few other layouts they have.... and to zB, feel free to ask questions.

If you do not like the ads, try switching to the centura theme. There are less ads there.

If you want you can disable signatures from showing in the User CP.

If you want to print something, Copy and Paste works fine. Just paste onto Microsoft Word or Notepad and print it out easily.

Thumbs up Sweet! -Thanks!

Gents,

Thanks for the very *fast* and helpful info. Centura is much better, and I turned off the sigs.

I work non-linearly and often have 10-20 windows open at a time, with several on each task, and not having to scroll around looking for the info will be much easier.

You guys rock!

Hrm, that's weird. What is your screen resolution? Also, what do you mean the sigs are all "stretched out?" This should not be happening...

Default Sigs distorted example

Here is an example in the original theme:

Well....guess I can't post an image yet. I made a screenshot from one of the topics I still had open in the original theme, but at 20k, it still exceeds my quota and any smaller and it won't be helpful.

Oh well, I'll try to describe it.

The images in almost all the sigs are distorted (scaled w/o retaining the original aspect). Most seem that a wider image was squeezed into an almost square image box.

I am running IE6 SP2 on XP Pro at 1400 x 1050. I didn't try Firefox, I use that in Linux, but no sense booting a VMWare window just to check it (unless it's important to you). My laptop is only 2GB, so I'd just have to close down a few projects to load it up right now....

I don't mind a reasonable number of ads as long as they don't interfere- gotta pay the bills, right?

Copy and paste works fine, most of the time. I normally use a PDF writer to save webpages. It retains the author, site info, and layout in a much smaller file.

- JC

PS- My posts stats are not adding, still says zero...

It might be your IE. I know I have this problem often when I view the site on my mum's laptop. She still has the old IE browser.

btw..

My school has the same problem.

Not in Firefox though, only in IE. Use FF, it's better. If you don't want to, upgrade IE to IE 7, or use a different theme. Good luck.
