Default Being active...

I must admit, I only really bought the Zune because I've homebrewed my PSP and modded my moto enough to want to try something new...aaaaand, it was $99.
I've already downloaded most of what this forum and a couple others have to offer for 'modding' software, but I'm disappointed that the community hasn't figured out a couple of the seemingly simple fixes. I shouldn't talk because I'm no programmer, but I'll be the first one to mod the heck out of my gadgets.

I'm hoping to get to know the Zune's innards a little better in the near future and I hope to find some new 'mods' here soon!

If you try to dig into its current state, you'll see that Microsoft actually did a good job securing it.

However, we'll have to see how it turns out on Nov 13th. Who knows? Maybe they'll leave us a hole.

This is what Microsoft specializes in. It's been a software company for several years and securing such a simple program is quite simpler than an entire operating system.

Right now, we've mostly "soft modded", because there's not much else we can do. The new firmware might have a whole or two, though.

I wish I could dig deeper...I sorta kinda just barely passed my programming class in college. Hopefully you're right and there are a couple loose ends.
No one has been able to get inside the firmware releases?
