I haven’t bought a Zune yet nor an IPOD. Which is better for functionality and accessory availability?

Functionality is definitively the Zune.
For accessories it's the iPod.

Well, the responses are going to be fairly biased b/c this is a ZUNE forum... but w/e. Zune is better for functionality, ipod for accesory's. But, you can find some nice zune accessory's out there, just not as many. And yeah, welcome to ZB

personally I have had both an ipod and now have a zune. I had more problems out of the ipod, didnt like how it scratched easily, and it was quite fragile i dropped it from about three feet (on accident) onto (unfortunately) concrete it broke...the screen. After i fixed the screen it still wouldnt work. I've dropped my zune (i know i'm a little clumsy) and it still worked perfectly. Plus i like the looks of the zune as well. they are right though accesories the ipod has more of them but how many do you need?

I agree with SilentWalrus, for functionality I would go with the Zune but for Accessories I would go with the iPod. But what I don't understand is why you don't see that many accessories for the Zune as you do for the iPod.

I think its because the Zune is newer and has a relatively smaller fan base or w.e, give it some time and the zune will have just as many accessories.
BTW i agree with others that the Zune has better functionality but the ipod has more accessories but who cares what matters is quality not quantity of those accessories that's why i got a Zune

zune is a better product. free firmware updates(althugh iPod firmware gets free custom firmware). Zune is down in acceories, but it still has a model or two of every type of thing out there, and more should be on the way as zunes popularity grows.
As to which you should get: defnitely zune, so long as you use a microsoft os, other os's with the zune get complicated. Linux included, although I'm personally expecting that to change in the fiarly near future(no evidence or reasoning besides linux is open source and people will start to want it, so they'll make it work.
