[SOLVED] Zune tag/Social Question

I share a zunepass subscription with my family, but I was wondering about something. If I link my zune to my own separate zune tag, will I still be able to use that zune to sync/play subscription music from our shared account?

It would be nice to have my own seperate zune card, but I don't want to try it in fear that it will screw something up.

Nope, sorry. The Zune Pass needs to be active on the Zune Tag you are using.

With the new software update released today I was determined to dig a little deeper and found out you can actually do this! The key is to only use the primary zune account whenever you need to download/renew subscription content. Then you associate your zune with you own seperate account.

As noted above yes with a Zune Pass you can download music on up to 3 PCs at a time and also synchronize music to up to 3 devices at a time. This is noted in the Terms of Service and you should refer to that if you have detailed questions or to always find the current terms.

With the latest release of Zune as you've all discovered, we now track which music your playing and make it available as your privacy settings specify - e.g. don't share it at all, share it with your friends or share it with the whole community.

If you have multiple people, such as your family, sharing an account - it can be difficult to create multiple identities which track what each of you play. My wife and I are going through this same process.

Since the Zune Client will use the current (or last) signed in user to associate plays with -- what I'd suggest doing is the following:

1. Create a shared account which has the Zune Pass associated with it. each person can sign in with this account when needed to download music or get the monthly updated license to keep your music singing (sorry for the pun).

2. Each person create an account of their own and once they've downloaded music, sign out and sign in with their own account to play it. In this way, all the music will be tracked based on the individual id.

3. A device can only be identified with one user id -- so associate it with whomever is the primary user of the device. all plays on the device will be associated with that account.

Sorry, I know this can be a bit cumbersome and we realize this -- I can't promise anything about future releases and we don't discuss future plans, but I can say we are aware of this problem and we're working around this the same as you are.
