Default Noob Question - Zune in Linux. Why Can't it be?

I was wondering, here in Ubuntu.. If Wine can make Windows programs run in Linux, how come they can't get the stuff that the Zune Software needs to run in Linux so that we can use that?

Do you live outside of the US, have Paypal, and want the Zune Pass? If so PM me.

MS has sold over 1 million zune devices, that's decently popular

Also, for now it wouldn't be cost effective as of now to recreate the Zune Software for other OSs

Because as you may know Wine doesn't exactly have all the components down well enough to do it and the Zune software is very picky and barely works even on our Windows machines. xD

That's probably the best answer I've heard so far :P

And to everyone, I wasn't talking about MS doing it(you all implied I was). I just like, can't you just copy everything it needs and put it in Wine or something???

Then again, even if that worked, it still doesn't work on the OS It's supposed to so.. I'm starting to lose sight of the point of doing it.

EDIT: sputty, what is a virtual box? I've never known what those things are, so I was always too scared/lazy to try/learn about it.

Well, the Zune program does need the .Net framework to work. That doesn't seem like something that is on Linux. However, I don't know a lot about it. I plan to dual-boot linux (with Vista) when I finally graduate from school since it's required that my laptop be configured to their specifications (Windows only) to get internet access on campus.

Trust me, if you dual boot, make it XP/Ubuntu or XP/A Linux Distro.

You won't regret it.
