Default Recovering files still on Zune HD

So I don't know how specifically but my Zune collection is completely missing from the appropriate sections of the device. The files are obviously there as the Zune software on the PC tells me there is 7.82 gigs used up (The amount I had on my zune).

Question 1: How did this happen? I Searched around for a bit and found various similar issues but had no luck finding my specific issue. This is what I did prior to this happening.

I sent a few Zune Wallpapers and a MP3 to a friend at work with a zune.
I connected to work PC (I have the Software here installed, but I am set as a guest already so I don't see this being the guest issue).
I tried to send another file and I got a "Connecting.." message forever. I could not get the Zune to cancel the connection so I did a restart (NOT a factory reset/wipe)
Turned Zune back on and screen was black.
Plugged in Sync cable and that fixed my screen issue.
Files are now on my Zune but not showing up in the Zunes collection Library.
My assumption it something likely got corrupted when I had to power it down.

Question 2: Can I recover the files or am I going to need to resync everything? (If I have to resync I am done trying to add files anywhere but my home PC as this software has become nothing but a headache anytime I try adding anything or syncing as a quest).

If recovery of the files is possible how would I go about that?

Thanks

Question 1... its either you moved your items or deleted the items in your zune collection.. but i'm not sure about it..
Question 2... you'll have to resync everything.. zune don't have file recovery besides firmware but for firmware.. you'll have to connect it to the zune software and it'll resync the firmware.

If you don't want autosync, set your zune to guest mode.

In the software, Settings>Device> Forget This Device.

Yeah I know. I was in guest mode, I knew that was a problem that many people were having, but my circumstances were different. Was hoping someone may have had the same issue.
