Default Software issues?

Hey everyone,
I seem to have a really cranky Zune. It was fine until this morning where it began to act up when I tried to get it to sync. The software on my computer crashed and when I unplugged the Zune, it was still flashing 'connected' and then 'sync complete'. So I restarted the computer, plugged it in again and the software wouldn't recognise the connected Zune; while Zune flashed 'connected'. So I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it via the CD and still no change.
In the meantime as I tried to switch tracks on my Zune, it started to get stuck. It would take a while to turn off and turn on. Eventually it decided to completely wipe everything to 'recover from a serious error'. After that I plugged it in again to no avail. I tried system restore and the software refused to cooperate, so I tried to uninstall it and it refuses to!
Now, the Zune seems fine- plays the radio OK; can't check the rest as I have no files and my computer won't recognise it. I'm reinstalling the software in the vain hope that it will work. If there's anything I can do to get it to work, please do let me know.
I have a brown 30Gb Zune. It was a present for Christmas, bought about two weeks ago. My OS is XP.
I'll thank you in advance for the help and advice.
Much appreciated.

go to the windows update website and update your computer. this could cause the computer to not recognise your zune.

1. Uninstall with UnZoone, then reinstall.
2. Do a hard reset of the Zune Device, then resync everything.

There are a few things that will fix this problem.

The first one is to restart your zune by holding the back button and the up button at the same time. This fixes most problems.

If this doesn't work, reinstall the Zune software and do a hard reset if needed.
