Files must reside on HD?

I've scanned the board and didn't see anything that addressed this one specifically.

I want to load some of the many MP3s that I have on CD. The zune wouldn't recognize the CDs, so I loaded them all in one Dir on my HD. I don't really want to hog up all the space by keeping them there, but when I remove them from the HD, they are removed from the Zune Collection.

Am I doin something wrong, or does the song have to remain on the HD with this system?

Did you change your sync options to the second option?

Yes, but the sync options seem to relate when the zune itself upates, not the collection.

I can remove the folders that it looks at, and the collection doesn't lose songs, but next time I want to load more songs to the collection from that folder, won't that make my existing songs disappear?
