Halo 3 Commercial

For those who have missed it, here is the Halo 3 commercial: [YOUTUBE]fwJGodnsFFc&mode[/YOUTUBE]

Directed by a friend and co-worker, Joseph Kosinski (who also directed the Gears of War commercial). Done at Digital Domain, using 3DStudio Max and rendered with Vray.

The begining is live action with the kids and the grass, after that it's all CG.

The low rez of youtuve doesn't do it justice, but Joe's site is being hammered by people looking to see the high quality version.

P.S: The Halo movie that was supposed to come out and directed by Peter Jackson has been shelved btw.

Yep, I know what you mean. I buckled in and got an Xbox360 and am loving it. You should check out some of the titles like "Lost Planet" - Playable Demo's available on Xbox Live, and Bioshock. They are near cinematic gameplay. Amazing.

Keep in mind, what you see in taht commercial is NOT actual game play with the game engine as Gears of War was. This was all pre-rendered on hi-end workstations combining 3D and Live action.

The halo movie isnt shelved, just alot of setbacks keeping it from moving forward. Jackson still has interest in working on the project and would still like to help with its production. The buzz around the game franchise is too big to just shelf it. :winkle:

well the studios rejected it so far. yes i agree, its not permanently shelved..so unless Jackson can personally put up $130 million of his own money, its on hold for the moment.

Thats true, but if they include video scenes in the video game like the ones in the commercial, a lot of people will be real happy.
Those are great looking shots.
You've also got to take into account how amazing XBox 360 games look on a HDTV.

If the videos in the game are like the commercial, I'll probably buy an XBox 360, just for this game (especially considering my PC isn't designed for games). XBox has always been the first game consol of choice on my to-buy list, if I ever spend money on a game consol (which, yes, I've never done). Nonetheless, with the recent release of the Wii (and some rather unexpect, unchildish games), I'm being even more tempted to purchase a Wii, and XBox might be loosing its place on my list (or at least be tied). :-/

The beta is gonna rock, I can't believe they are doin a public release. PLUS there are gonna be a bunch of new H2 Maps released soon, BEEYA BEEYA!!!!

Gears of War + Lost Planet + Bioshock + Halo 3 + Halo Wars... more then enough reasons to buy a 360.
