Next Xbox/Halo 4

Rumors started circulating today about Halo 4 being in development as a launch title for the next gen xbox.

I am intrigued.

Yeah.
When a new one is released, I'm going to buy 3.
One for myself.
And 2 for making $200+ on eBay.
Yay for employment at Best Buy.

I can't think of very many arguments with the supposed choice of developer. They have experience with Halo through Halo 1 for PC. But wow, Halo 4? Next Xbox? Far too soon for any of this, really.

The industry is at a point were they don't know what the next generation is right now. Is it motion/touch controls? Is it better processors, not just for graphics, but for better computations and background processes? It's hard to explain why no one is ready to bring out a new console other than for economic reasons.

Major releases including Gears of War 2 are due out soon. Though still perhaps two or so years away, with the recent improvements, I'm interested that this developed.

Guess I kinda figured it was just here to stay...

TBH i dont think a new 360 will come out anytime soon.they are making a huge update that comes out in a couple months.Then we got gears 2,fable 2,resident evil 5,fallout 3,and more coming.I say they will release a new one in 2010-12.And for halo 4 sweet,but awhiles away i bet,since this rumored map maker coming who knows when.

No. It is your opinion that is sucked. Many people thought it was great. The quality of Halo 3 is no indication of how Halo 4 would/will be.

Halo 4 is being developed by a different firm, so previous version have little bearing on how this will play out.

I REALLY hope they aren't doing this. The back of the box says "The conclusion to the Halo Trilogy" and Halo 3 ended very nicely (even in Legendary).

This seems more like Microsoft's attempt to exploit rather than explore the Halo universe. The only way this could be good is if

1. They didn't say "Halo 4" because it would pretty much be like Saw 4 was. Pulling things out of the last movie to make 3 more.
2. You don't fight Covenant, but perhaps a new species or something. It's a bright new planet, Master Chief has lost contact with humanity, they could do plenty if they use their heads.
3. Really just don't relate it to the Halos that much.. Although that kind of takes Halo out of itself.

At least Bungie isn't making it.. I'd rather see a new type of game for Halo like Halo Wars is (whatever the word is, I forget) and Bungie's unannounced Halo game is like Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas.
