Default E3: Nintendo Wii

Announced games:
  • Animal Crossing: City Folk
  • Wii Music - most music games make you press buttons in time with the music, but Wii Music lets you free-form your music depending on whatever you want. Just move the WiiMote around as if you were playing the instrument, and the game translate that into "music".
  • Wii Sports Resort
  • GTA: Chinatown Wars (DS)
  • Dead Rising Wii
  • Zelda Wii
  • Miyamoto hinted at sequels for Galaxy, Pikmin, NSMB, and Kid Icarus.

Peripherals:
  • Wii Speak, the new peripheral is a small semi-circle shaped add-on which was shown sitting on top of the Wii's sensor bar. Wii Speak will allow players to chat online and undertake activities in the Animal Crossing: City Folk world. One example shown at the conference included a four-player fishing game in Animal Crossing, with players happily chatting to each other as well as engaging in some trash talk along the way. Another quick example shown was four players going into an in-game restaurant and talking to each other over a meal.
Wii Speak is expected to ship as an optional accessory with the release of Animal Crossing: City Folk by the end of 2009.
  • Motion Plus -At E3, Nintendo announced its first title that would make use of the new precision-enhancing add-ons for the Wii remote — it's called Wii Sports Resort, and Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway said it was "literally a day at the beach." They demonstrated water-skiing and disc dog minigames — that's Frisbee with a pooch. Meanwhile, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime played with the jet ski by "revving" the engine with a turn of his wrist. They also chopped wood with their hands karate-style, and fought one another.

Really looking forward to this, my only Wii issue currently is entering my freinds IDs which seems to take forever sometimes. I love how nintendo went from "It's only designed to play games, thats it." methodology and took it to the next level with the Wii and truly showed the Market exactly what they ment as far as functionality goes. From Mario Galaxy to simple cooking games to Wii Fit, I've had more fun playing my Wii then I ever had with any other game as far as experience goes. With Animal Crossing: CF and Force Unleashed within it's sights, and the additional voice support, it looks like it will be a long time before I set my Wii in my closet next to my other retired Nintendo consoles to collect dust.
