Impending Bungie announcement

Hey guys (and gals)! Now, I was watching the Microsoft press conference at E3, and while I'm excited about a lot of the stuff announced, I was surprised at the fact that there was no announcement from Bungie about a project they're working on. I direct you to Bungie.net, where there is a countdown currently. It ends this Wednesday at 7:07 AM Pacific time (GMT-8 for you foreigners). Personally, I'm hoping that it is counting down to a reveal of a rumored Master Chief-less Halo game that is darker, grittier, and more tactical, although I doubt it. I just wanted to inform anyone who's interested but didn't know and was wondering what do all of you think will be the big reveal.

Halo wars baby. Oh yes yes indeed. I'm hoping they come to their senses and announce the halo movie as well. I don't think they'll go back to FPS without spartan though

I would also like to see a tournament-style game based on the halo 3 engine.

I was kinda wondering why bungie.net was down as well.. a halo 4 announcement would be tight though.

I doubt it'll be Halo Wars. It's been known for while that Halo Wars is in development. There's even a trailer on Xbox Live and on the internet.

Yeah but the trailers are pretty old.
Maybe Halo 3 for PC, or something entirly new and epic. I hope for both.

It seems everyone's getting excited over this, so I really hope it's not Halo Wars or Halo 3 for PC. We know those are eventually getting out.

Eh? I don't understand. I can beat highly ranked people early on when I'm playing pretty much ANY game. That has more to do with the fact that the 45 sucks than the actual game. When playing CoD 4, I've owned many a "gold cross" 55's even though they've managed to completely finish the prestige mode. And I just started playing a couple of weeks ago. Oh, and, Gaylo? Come on. That stopped being clever years ago, although it really wasn't clever in the first place. Halo 3 is far from perfect, in fact, I've switched for the most part completely to CoD 4 but you don't really have a valid complaint there. Or at least a complaint unique to Halo 3. Also, unless it was 1v1, FFA, or you got MVP, you didn't really beat the 45 yourself. Oh, and, apparently the announcement was stopped by Microsoft for some reason. I don't really understand why considering the fact that the countdown only started a couple of days ago. They had plenty of time to not do it at all. Now, they've pissed a lot of people off. Personally, I'm disappointed but not pissed off. I'm sure someone will start an online petition to restart the countdown/reveal the game.

I realize that you can beat the highest level on CoD 4 from the start because the game was engineered that way. You can headshot someone and instantly kill them I get it. Halo was made sci-fi like. It just doesn't have the realism that most good games have. Like you can no scope headshot someone by just moving left and right. You can bash someone in the back for an instant kill. You need like 16 1/2 clips of assault rifle ammo to kill someone. I realize that someone may be good at this game but, when they get killed by a 6 year old (which most halo players are 6) it's because the game blows, or that someone who got beat just fails at life. They should /die.

You play a 7 foot tall, genetically engineered, cyborg super soldier fighting in a war against a group of Xenophobic, religious zealot aliens in the future where FTL travel is possible. And you want realism?!??! I think there are a few missteps in logic in your thinking. And yes, you can kill someone by bashing them in the back of the head. The brain stem does control the heart and lungs, I believe. Injure that, which can happen since the character is supposedly strong enough to lift a tank, and you will die. In fact, the force of a rifle butt to the head/neck is twice enough force to kill someone in real life, so, that's actually somewhat realistic. Go hit someone in the back of the head with a shovel if you don't believe me. |I've done it!|

Also, if the characters' bullet proof armor can protect against some bullets, then they should protect somewhat against a knife, which is always a one hit kill in CoD 4. And the hit box for headshots in CoD 4 is ridiculous. It has a cheap auto-aim too, in reference to your mention of sweep sniping. And the AR kills with far fewer bullets, up close, because it is a close range weapon. It has a LIMITED use, just like weapons in real life. In CoD 4, you can snipe with a P90 and other short-range weapons extremely long distances, which is completely unrealistic.

And there are TONS of little kids who play CoD 4. Considering the fact that a staff captain did far better than you in a game of Lone Wolves, I'm guessing you're just complaining because you're not that good at Halo 3. That's okay. Calm down. Both games are dumbed-down and not that realistic in order to appeal to some of the "casual" crowd. I love both games. And, honestly, your complaints aren't really that unique to Halo 3. Many games have ridiculous auto-aim. And the annoying children are to be expected with Xbox Live.

Realism does NOT equal "good." What you're illustrating here is a frustration with the game, combined with your own personal tastes. Again, Halo 3 is far from perfect. Go play Counter Strike if you want a "realistic" experience. Or join the Army.

Now, considering the fact that this thread has very little, if anything, to do with Halo 3, I'd like to get back on topic. The fact that you more or less hijacked a thread about Bungie's NEXT game to express your frustration is indicative of a deep seated problem with Halo 3. There are other outlets to express your feelings. As I said in the previous post, the announcement has been canceled. Here's an article explaining the situation:

I was hoping it was the Peter Jackson's Halo Project, but I guess that for now we won't know.
