hey my insurance thing is either close to being up or already is, and i REALLY dont want the RRoD. should i mod the case and install more fans, or just try to ventilate? i dont have the $$$ to replace it. what should i do?

If you mod it, you can always pay someone to repair it. That's what I'll do once my 360 bites the dust. It'll cost $30 or so so I'm A-OK.

well your xbox is covered from RRoD for 3 years from purchase date so i dont think you have anything to worry about seeing as how even if you bought it at launch you'd still have 6 months of coverage. if you're still worried, a better idea would to buy one of those

i wouldn't bother modding it.. just add more cooling supply on it... instead... modding it might be a bit of a problem sometime..

^modding doesnt cause problems as long as you stay on top of it with the newest firmwares and stealth patching...

It's not really worth it. Just try to protect your 360 with other means and maybe extend the insurance if you want, even though Microsoft has extended their warranty to cover RRoD.

be sure you dont break the lens reader if you install an internal cooler, my friends brother did that and had to get a whole new xbox...

^thats why i suggested getting the cooling station that i linked to in my first post.
the issue with the ones that clip on the back is that they draw power from the 360's supply... the cooling station has its own power supply as well as circulating the air more efficiently, and it provides a nice stable base if you stand your 360 up (which i do, imo it promotes airflow/cooling).
