[PC] Game Nights

PC Gamers,

If you haven't done so please do the following:

This is good for games outside of the realm of Steam games. Free to download and use, tracks numerous games and allows one to join a game with a friend.

With that out of the way we can get onto business.

Since there are quite a few of us now I think its about time we establish a system for game nights or nights in which we game. Of course, some of us have lives, jobs, school, etcetera so we will need a flexible schedule but if we start setting dates I am sure we can expect numbers to be good.

My schedule is

M: Night is open
T: Day and Night is open but Night may involve schoolwork
W: Night is open
R: Night is open
F: Night is open
Sa: Night is open
Su: Maybe open

It is a variable schedule as I do have things that come up (life) that will close a night but it gives a fair system of a possible use. I am sure someone more industrious than I can come up with an Excel spreadsheet for the GamerZ.

Besides Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty 4, what games do we have that we can use for these game nights?

I am going to install Call Of Duty 4. My steam id is 'wcnghj'. I am open for the rest of this week, and most saturdays and sundays.

EDIT: My brand new hard drive is going dead, A new one will be hereSaturday.

My multiplayer games are:
TF2
HL2 Deathmatch (steam are giving this away free if you have an nvidia graphics card http://www.steampowered.com/nvidia/ and if you have an ATI graphics card http://www.steampowered.com/ati_offer1a/)
HL2 CTF (this is a free third party mod)
Garry's Mod

Some of these arent available at the moment because i need to re-download them.

HL2 CTF is downloaded, how about Eternal Silence as a mod to play as well. We can expand our base of games with HL2 mods.

There is also Teamspeak and on that we can set up a personal server (i.e. free and no time expiration).

That is something we could look at for having voice chat in games outside of Steam games that have voice chat.

Im look in to setting up some dedicated servers (i know some people

). At the moment these will just be TF2 and HL2: DM.

Edit: Im also planning on setting up an eternal silence server

Problem is working out the major kink on my end of my router not playing nice with NAT connections even when put onto the DMZ. Got a new trigger port system set up but have not tested it yet to see if it will work. Can't get a new router unless this one goes bust and even than they might just replace it with the 604.

Ok then, What would I need setup for a server. My upload speed is 786kbps, and I have a desktop laying around with the following specs.

1GB RAM
2.4ghz P4
250GB Hard Dive

What OS would I need and what games to setup the server? Any tutorials around?

That spec is fine, the best OS would be XP pro. It would be easier to set up without those damn Administrator issues.

All the tutorials are Here Its a website dedicated to dedicated servers.

EDIT: Also NO router would be ideal
