Top 10 Videogaming Moments of 2007

Hi folks. da10x, your friendly neighborhood gamer here with what I thought were the top cinematic moments in gaming in 2007.

10. Goodbye, companion cube! (Portal)
You just finished a level with this trusty cube by your side the whole way. Then the voice tells you to incinerate the cube. OMG WTF NOEZ.

9. Fire and Ice put into one? OMG (Super Mario Galaxy)
Sure, you've seen ice worlds and lava worlds, but have you ever seen them merged into one little neat package? Now you have with the Freezeflame Galaxy (bad pun intended Nintendo?)!!!

8. UBERCHARGE (Team Fortress 2)
Medics can heal in many games, but have you ever felt such a rush as when you healed so much without dying that you give invincibility to a guy? Not me.

7. The Art of the Kill (Assassin's Creed)
Many games emphasize killing waves of enemies, but no game has ever put it so artistically as this game. From the fluid controls to the elegant kills, this truly is a beautiful death.

6. Finish the Fight (Halo 3)
*SPOILER* You just finished a long story, filled with waves of relentless enemies. Now what? you get on a ship headed for Earth, but something goes wrong! You are now floating through space, just waiting for someone to pick you up.

5. MY COMPUTER IS TEH SUCK AND SO IZ URZ (Crysis)
So you pimped out your ultra-gaming PC with Vista and DX10 to play Crysis eh? Think again buddy. This game will make you cry. LAG ON TEH LOWEST SETTINGS!!!

4. Shock and Awe (Call of Duty 4)

You just rescued a fallen pilot and are getting ready to get some well deserved rest. You'll hear a radio announcement as the NEST team defuses the nuke. But wait. KA-BOOM! You see the nuke go off and you witness every moment in the aftermath, from buildings disintegrating to the list of KIA soldiers. Then, you die. Absolutely horrifying.

3. Zeus, you're an ass. (God of War II)
All you wanted to do was take over freakin' Greece. Then Athena has to go and shrink you and Zeus kills you. He stabs the sword into your chest. BIIIIG mistake. Now he's dead too!

2. Getting the band together (Rock Band)
Guitar Hero 2-Player was awesome? Try that plus drums and vocals. With your friends. w00t.

1. CoD4 - Win the War (Call of Duty 4)
*SPOILER* You stopped the ICBMs from killing the Eastern Seaboard. You have to rush to the extraction point, but suddenly, the bridge gets blown apart. You watch in horror as the comrade who drags you to safety is destroyed by bullets, and one of your closest squad members gets shot in the head with a Desert Eagle by the terrorist leader as he struggles to stand. Then, you watch as a friendly helicopter shoots at them, and they are distracted. Your commander slides a gun over to you. You aim to kill, and the war is won.

That's it. My top moments in gaming in 2007.

Crysis is not that laggy and I loved the big assault on the North Korean base bit.

Best moment for me would go to Bioshock and the first encounter (fight part) with a Big Daddy. Here it is some big monstrosity charging you while you unload as much ammo as you got only to get thrown like a ragdoll. That and the other part with Andrew Ryan and the "Would you kindly..." bit. Particularly brutal and effective.

I personally didn't think 2007 was all that great in terms of new game releases unless you're a FPS player (I prefer RPGs).

I had to pick number 10 though because Even though I dislike FPSes, Portal was pure love.

Melty Molten was a better galaxy it SMBG
but I'd have to say the best part of that game was unlocking Luigi

Dude, seriously? if 2007 wasn't a good year with Assassin's Creed, BioShock, CoD4, Halo3, The Orange Box, Super Mario Galaxy, Haze, God Of War II, Jeanne d'Arc, and all those other games, what year was better?

Of course, like all of those are FPS's lol.

Mass Effect is awesome for the Xbox360. Other than that its been the Witcher for me on the PC.

Hellgate is alright but boring after awhile and Oblivion is still out there with more material.

I'll give you Assassin's Creed, and maybe Mario (I've had a hard time getting into the Mario games since Mario 64 because I grew up with the old Mario games and the 3D ones are so different). I've not played or looked into GoW or Jean d'Arc.

From a RPG point of view, 2001 was probably my favorite year. Devil May Cry, Ico, Final Fantasy X, and Black and White.
