Default Building a PC...

I know how to build it all and everything, I just wanted to check with people if my CPU and Mobo are definitely compatible.

CPU:
Intel® Core™2 Duo E4600 (2 X 2.40GHz) 800MHz FSB/2MB L2 Cache

Mobo:
ASUS® P5VD2-VM: DDR2, S-ATA II, 1 x PCI-E x16, 2 PCI.

I think they are but I just want to double check before this gets ordered.

TIA

I did look at that one but the price bumps it up to too much overall

Go for DDR2 800 Ram since its is around the same price range plus you can probably get a 4gb kit for $20 more. Though I don't know how the UK situation is on DDR2 Ram prices.

In fact any suggestions I could make wouldn't be valid for a UK build because it would be based on US prices for parts, which are lower. Like for about the same price a Quad Core, 4gb DDR2 800, 8800GT, ** cetera could be built into it.

Although, from what I see it looks to be a good build just keep in mind that there is no hardware out there currently that can run Crysis at a high resolution with the settings on High or Very High at a playable framerate.

Enjoy the building and finished product!

Same socket? Motherboard is stated as supporting dual core Intel?

Are you sure you want that processor :\. Personally, I'd rather get a cheaper (yet better performing) Athlon 64 x2 processor (I.E. 5600+, 6000+, 6400+). For that Core 2 Duo range, you can save money on both the motherboard and cpu, while getting better performance.

Um, no. Unless I missed an OS, only one OS currently does not work on the Athlon Processor and is being hacked so it will. That OS is OSX 10.x Leopard.

I think it is probably a confusion over 32bit and 64bit, which Athlons can run x86 or x64. They shine better at x64 while Intel shines better at x32.

Well all the stuff there I'm getting a saving on, the place I'm buying it from is giving me a deal on all those parts together. And I'm buying it for gaming, I know it's not great but I'm on a very tight budget.

Yeah I just want Crysis to actually run lol. This pc is more of a 6/8 month thing until I get a job and then have that for abit and raise some money to buy something alot better. I just really want to be able to run most games out now and then some that our out in the next few months, it's also gonna be used for some music production so that factored into my choosing aswell (yes I know I need a sound card but I already have an external soundcard with 5 midi inputs, phono inputs and jack inputs).

Yeah I think all new posts for this should be made here: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/vid...-building.html
Not sure why I made this topic and that one...but yeah...

I'm sorry, but for crysis you need at LEAST an ATI HD 3850/3870 (3870 is better) OR at least an 8800GT/GTS. 8600GT/GTS will not cut the cheese even on lower settings, and both your graphics card and cpu will get murdered.

EDIT: BTW, GoW, currently there is absolutely no gaming rig (graphics card, for that matter) on the planet that can play Crysis at very high on 25+ fps. There is just plain no graphics card that can handle it, period. High=maybe, very high=very no.

Can't you just use two gfx cards, and at least increase the performance?

As for recommendations I would go for a AMD 5200+ or higher w/ this mobo Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe and this cooling fan. ARTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro

I know it will handle it. My mates rig is worse than that and he can play it, well the demo atleast. And in my experiences demos always run worse than the full game. Crysis is very scalable as even a GeForce 7600 can run it...
