How to open .RAR files

What is a .RAR file? Rar files are compressed archives. The term "Archive" in this context means that the file may contain one or more files, or even folders, much like folders on your hard disk. "Compressed" means that mathematical techniques have been used to reduce the space needed to store the files, so that the size of the archive may be much smaller than the size of the files it contains.

OK so what? How do I open them? Its easy just follow these directions and you will be on your way to watching those movies or getting those programs in no time!

How to open .RAR files.
1) Download this program called Winrar install the program.
2) Locate the .RAR file that you are trying to open.

3) Right-Click on the file.

4) Click on extract files here.
5) Find the new and UnRared file.

6) And your done!

How to register WinRAR
1) Once done installing close it.
2) Copy the file named "Crack" to C:\Program Files\WinRAR

3) Double-Click on Crack.
4) Type in your name in the first text box.

5) Then press Generate.
6) WinRar is now yours enjoy!

How reduced are the file sizes, cause I dont have much HDD space but I wanna back up my movies in case my Zune breaks or somethin

Not much maybe like 50mb but your best bet to back stuff up is on cds until you can afford another HD or an external HD.

I used to use winRAR but, I kept getting the request for a licensce, so I dumped it. I got one called IZARC instead, it's been working fine for me. I dunno, I guess it's an alternate to all the Generator steps...

Yeah I used to use CDs but they would just get used up so quick so I'm just going to put them on my grandpa's 100 gig HDD, he's almost 70 and has 5 times the HDD space as me

Hmm...i got something called keygen rather than "crack" and when i click keygen i get something like this "couldn't open target file for writing" and i'm pretty sure i put it in the right place. (i decided to get it since i had the evaluation winzip).

The file is supposed to be called keygen, as far as I know. Put it inside C:\Program Files\WinRAR, or wherever you installed it to, and then double-click it. You should be asked for your name. Enter it and press generate. Now you have an activated copy of WinRAR
