This is for people that want to install Windows 7 much faster than usual, or want to install Windows 7 from their USB flash drive, but their computer is unable to boot from USB drives.
What you need:
First
Use a program (such as PowerISO or MagicISO) to burn the Windows 7 ISO to your DVD. Then
extract the contents of the ISO to your flash drive.
Second
Restart your computer and have it boot from your DVD. Once you can see the window with the button to install Windows, press
Shift + F10, then remove your DVD. You can put your DVD away. Type in the letter of your flash drive, then ":". For instance, if your flash drive is your "E" drive, you would type "E:" without the quotes, then press enter. After that, type "setup.exe" and press enter. If you do not know what letter your flash drive is, try the above with "D:", and if it can not find setup.exe, try it with "E:", then "F:", etc.
Third
Close the command prompt and install Windows 7!
As a side note, I discovered this method when I tried installing Windows 7. For some reason, I kept getting an error part way through the "Expanding files..." phase when using my DVD to install Windows 7. The error said something about not being able to find important files. I figured the problem was with my DVD, so I figured I would try to install Windows 7 from my flash drive. However, my laptop was unable to boot from my flash drive, so I thought I would try booting the Windows 7 setup with my DVD, then use my flash drive to install Windows 7. It worked great, and it took a lot less time than when I was using my DVD.
I hope this helps.
