It's a good tutorial and all..
I just lack the perspective to ever want to downgrade, and pity those who do due to them losing really good major features.

I in fact love the features you speak of, or should I say loved them.
I bought my zune used for 100 bucks, 30 GB - brown . it worked great, kinda it seemed to always lock up in the middle of syncing and after a while I noticed I never really had the songs I wanted on it.
then I got another zune 30 GB, - blue, and as soon as I got it and plugged it into my computer (same sync cable, and same computer) I noticed the songs were adding 3 times as fast as my other brown zune. and after a while, I had the whole zune full of 30 gigs of media. (which i had yet to do with my brown zune)
being the nice guy I am I gave the blue zune to my cousin, and he now has it. still works great.
I since then got an 8 GB zune, that works PERFECT, with no issues. same as the blue zune. but of course, that zune is my wifes, and only thing I got is this brown zune that does not work, and an ipod nano 2 gig =(.
it was pretty sucky for a while, only being able to sync 10 songs, 5 songs before it locks up and i have to restart, then seeing my wife add multiple albums and hundreds of songs with ease,
and seeing the blue work the same way. i tried everything, reformatting the zune, reinstalling the software, i put it on my laptop, and 3 different desktop. and it seemed like everytime i tried a new computer the brown zune seemed to work better, for maybe 10 min? then start acting up again.. it was strange... go to another computer, and maybe i would be able to add 50 or 100 songs, then it would start to lock up again, and only do 10, or 5 songs.. it was driving me insane.
so i stumbled upon zalternator on demonoid.com, then i tried and did the downgrade instructions, to 2.5 and i still Had the same problem.
damn, that sucks.
then i downgraded. from 2.5 to 1.1 and WA-LAW! IT WORKS PERFECT!!!, NO SYNCING ISSUES AT ALL!!!
my brown zune is full, i am able to add music and erase, and add and erase, NO PROBLEMS!!! ITS AMAZING!!!
my weird feelings were right, (how could the zune work perfect for 10, 15 min, then BLAM, stop.) then take it to another computer, and it acts the same way, i suspected it was not my zune, but yet another damn windows error. i tried a brand new out of the box dell in my office, that still had not been unopened from the box, i installed all the updates, and tried to do it very clean installs, i put 2 DVDs worth of mp3s on the hard drive, and then tried to sync it with the brown zune and it did the same thing, so i know it was not due to (p2p software) or bad windows files/OS/updates/keys ( i also tried it on other computers)
if something was wrong with my zune,? then why am i able to sync with 1.1 software like the zune was brand new...
i think that there is more too it then a bad zune, or a wmp11 issue, or a bad copy of windows.
Microsoft knows that the zune will work with 1.1 software, ?? why wont they offer this fix for zune consumers who are having the same problem as me? and have to either send in the zune and pay ($100) for the same thing to happen again.
i know there is ton of people out there having the same "syncing" problem, i have been to countless forums, countless threads countless zune information trying to find something that would help fix my syncing issue.
developer: well Mr zune exec. the zune syncing issue is resolved if you used 1.x software,
Mr zune exec. : well too bad, make it to where they can not use 1.x after they upgrade to 2.5 or 3.x ,
developer : lol, ok... now we can force people to send it in and get it fixed, or, go buy a new one.
Mr zune exec: YES! best part is, we can train our support agents on the phone to make them believe that the zune is damaged, and that they caused the damage, or that they have a bad version of windows.
i dont care what you say, my zune it still better then most any other mp3 player, weather or not it has those features you speak of or not.
if i did not downgrade, i would have those features for what? to have a zune half full. missing many tracks that should be on there.
my downgrade, and many other peoples are justifiable, i was at my wits end, and just about to give up on zune. now that i got my zune working,
i am having trouble dealing with the fact that it does work. and Microsoft never helped me, instead told me to send them 100 bucks to get it fixed, or go buy a new one, and even had the audacity to say my computer is messed up, and thats why the zune wont work.
they are being unfair, and they are doing it because they can, and they know that consumers will pay for these features, buy upgrading zunes, or getting theres fixed, which means more revenue for them,
so why would they tell us??
in my heart, i cant even say they wrong, cuz in the game, all the players sing the same song.
